Holy moly what a horrible first launch process. I was redirected to a browser 6 times, prompted to accept notifications, firmware update, ink subscriptions. Get out of my face. I'm not updating my printer because my third party ink finally works, and if it ever stops working, I'm dropping this printer from a 10 meter high window. Brother becomes more anti-user with each passing year.

The app does what it needs to do. It isn't fancy, but it doesn't need to be. I could do without the constant reminders about the ink subscription. The printer itself is infuriating garbage. I rarely need to print, so the ink dries out between uses, meaning I have to buy a whole new set of ink cartridges every time I want to print a couple of documents. Even getting to the scanner, I have to dismiss multiple notifications about the ink and firmware, and if I take too long, a new one pops up.

Works one minute, the next says printer is offline, the next minute it works again, having changed nothing. Unreliable and annoying to work with. Meanwhile my husband has an iPhone and his phone connects automatically (directly with no clunky app to download) to his brother printer and he never has issues. The printer is fine but it's been a pain using it with every android phone I've had.
