The Workout App for People:
⌛ With a tight schedule
💪 Wanting to become stronger at something specific
❤️ Wanting to improve general health
🦍 Wanting to gain diverse strength
This app is built on a few different ideas.
⌛ Time Management
Since becoming a dad, my spare hours for training drastically decreased, but I found I could still squeeze in a few minutes here and there throughout the day. This app is about reminding you and capture those "micro-moments" of movement.
🐵 No Smarter Than a Monkey
In the book Factfulness, Hans Rosling showed that we often get things wrong because we think systematically wrong, especially outside our domain and are sometimes no smarter than a monkey (random choice). So instead of outsmarting the monkey, the app provides an optional feature to randomise the Volume & Variance of the exercise snack and so on becoming the monkey. Great if you want to gain diverse strength an not really sure what you're doing.
💪 Grease the Groove
Based on the idea that "strength is a skill," this method focuses on performing frequent, non-exhaustive sets. By doing 10 push-ups five times a day instead of 50 all at once, you stay fresh, avoid injury, and "prime" your nervous system to remain strong and capable. Great if you want to become strong at something specific.
🚶 Moving Throughout the Day
There has been a lot of fuzz recently about research that suggests that sitting for hours is really bad for you and moving throughout the day, even just a few squats here and there could help with:
🧁 Blood Glucose: Blunting sugar spikes after meals.
🧑💻 Productivity: Resetting focus and increasing blood flow to the brain.
🛠️ App Features
🛡️ Local & Private: No accounts, no cloud, and no tracking. All data lives on your device. So little data is collected that you actually have to email me if you find a bug or want a new feature. I only see the basic data Google Play provides, such as total installs.
🔔 Customizable Reminders: Set reminders that fit your personal schedule, not a pre-set routine.
💾 Import/Export: Save your data however you like—Google Drive, Dropbox, Nextcloud, or USB. It is an optional feature, but it’s great for switching phones or if you accidentally damage your device.
📈 Volume Tracking: A simple way to see if you are actually getting stronger over time.
