I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. And today we're taking a look at the SmarT-Slot Mounting Kit for Yakima products. This is going to be a way to replace the straps you typically have on your accessories, and instead, actually mount your gear with the T-slots in your Yakima bars. It's just a different way of mounting it. It doesn't necessarily hold it any tighter. It's just a different way for a more low-profile look.Typically that strap will have a little bit more of a cushion, so it might raise your carrier up a little bit. This will clamp it down a little bit tighter to your bar. And by tighter, I just mean it's gonna be a little bit more low-profile. We'll have these T-bolts that will slide into the T-slot on our bars, the nut goes on top to wedge that in between, and then we'll get this little wrench tool to tighten down our nut so it stays nice and secure.The instructions do tell you how tight to make these. They have a specific newton-meter metric that they want you to meet. But pretty much you just want to be tight enough that it's not going to move around, but not so tight that you're crushing the bar or anything like that. And then these tabs are basically going to replace the strap. So whenever you get this, remove the strap, remove the hardware. Usually it's going to be a bolt and a barrel nut to hold that in place and this is going to be removing or replacing that whole mechanism with just this little tab. So it'll go in place and still flipped down, and then the locking tab will slide into this. That'll keep that in place and protect your hardware, but it's just less bulky than that strap mechanism overall.This is going to work with most crossbars that have top channels. Not just the Yakima crossbars, but it will also work with most Thule, Rhino-Rack and other crossbars out there that have that top channel in the bar. These will replace the straps for the double-haul and the off-grid cargo basket. Also, it will work for the high-speed and high-road Yakima bike racks. Bruch anything that has a strap that connects to a tab, something like this, it should work out.The other accessories that I mentioned, high-speed and the high-road also the double-haul and the off-grade. Those are all sold separately. You can find those here at etrailer.com, along with all those roof-rack accessories as well, the roof-bar kits.As far as the dimensions, just for reference here, these are gonna be about 2 and 3/4 inches long from the very end to end from where it meets this little channel where it slides in place. It's about 2 inches in between that little notch out and the center of this pivoting point. The notch in the bottom to the center of that pivot points is 2 inches. And then, I decide it's about 1 and 5/16 wide, and overall about a 1/2 inch thick. Does come with a lifetime limited warranty from Yakima and overall, it's just a pretty easy way to replace that hardware and have a different mounting option for your roof accessories.
