El alcalde de Talcahuano dijo que el Casino Marina del Sol no sólo contribuye por ley con recursos a la comuna y al gobierno regional, sino que también permite el desarrollo de un polo gastronómico y de entretención en la comuna. Esto, luego que la Superintendencia de Casinos otorgara la continuidad operativa del Casino de Talcahuano por los próximos 15 años. La Superintendencia de Casinos emitió un certificado que autoriza a Marina del Sol S.A. a extender la operación del casino de Talcahuano por un periodo adicional de 15 años. La extensión de la autorización asegura la continuidad laboral para más de 600 colaboradores que desempeñan sus funciones en el casino de Talcahuano, destacó Vicente Figueroa, su gerente general, agregando que para esta etapa Marina del Sol comprometió dentro de obras complementarias un nuevo restorán, Restaurante Safari, único en Chile, y que con la emisión de este certificado está en condiciones de iniciar sus operaciones. La continuidad del casino también garantiza, por los próximos 15 años, el tributo mensual al municipio de Talcahuano y al consejo regional del Bío Bío, en un aporte tributario que corresponde al impuesto específico destinado al financiamiento de obras de desarrollo. En este mes de enero ambas entidades reciben los fondos correspondientes a los ingresos de octubre, 323 millones de pesos el Gore y 323 millones el municipio. El alcalde de Talcahuano, Henry Campos, indicó que es una buena noticia seguir contando con estos recursos que por ley aporta el casino. En un comunicado, la presidenta del directorio de Casino Marina del Sol, Paula Rojas, destacó el compromiso continuo de la compañía con el desarrollo y bienestar de la comunidad, apuntando que esto les permite mantener sus compromisos laborales y seguir contribuyendo al progreso de la Región.
