Its history, however, is also one of complex financial maneuvers, repeated bankruptcies, and ultimately, its dramatic demolition. The casino initially opened on May 14, 1984, as "Harrah's at Trump Plaza," a joint venture between Donald Trump's organization and Harrah's. This partnership was short-lived, with Trump buying out Harrah's by May 1986 to gain full control and rename it Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino. Throughout its peak, particularly in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Trump Plaza was synonymous with major boxing matches featuring champions like Mike Tyson, and it was the site of the infamous $10 million baccarat loss by high roller Akio Kashiwagi, an event later popularized in the film Casino. Despite its high-profile status, the property consistently struggled with profitability, leading its parent company, Trump Entertainment Resorts, through multiple bankruptcies. As competition in Atlantic City intensified and economic downturns took their toll, Trump Plaza's performance declined significantly, eventually becoming one of the lowest-performing casinos in the city. After years of financial distress, the casino officially closed its doors on September 16, 2014. Following its closure, the building deteriorated severely, becoming a public safety hazard. After protracted legal battles, the iconic main tower of the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino was spectacularly imploded on February 17, 2021, leaving a vacant lot where a once-defining landmark of Atlantic City's casino era had stood. While the adjacent former parking garage remains, the site of the main structure currently awaits future redevelopment.

You know, I haven't done a new hotel lately, so I've got 2 in the next week! First up is Cromwell. Now I hate to admit, but I didn't stay. We were over at Park MGM and I literally came over here (after a bit of a rough afternoon) took a bunch of videos and left. I didn't even get to the pool ☹️ Sorry y'all Heck I didn't gamble that should tell you something! The Cromwell is, how could one describe it? They say it is designed to make you feel as if you are in an apartment in Paris. I'd say they did a good job! Its very plush and luxurious. The hotel only has 188 rooms, and is the smallest on the strip. The casino is smaller but has everything you could want to play. I know Giada has a restaurant here and does the room service as well. The check in area is really small but was not busy when I got there. I'd imagine with 188 rooms, the line could get pretty long but as you can see (in the check in video) they had people around the attend to it. The hall rugs, shower and who knows what else are......well, written 😝 I don't know how to describe. It appears the hall carpeting has a story on it, although I 'm not sure how you would read it all. The shower was very bizarre as well. There is a very distinct feel here, but I can't think of the words to describe it. The rooms was s smaller than I am used to, but they utilized the space well. For the size there are a lot of places to sit that are not on the bed. I've heard the bathroom mirrors are two way, but that was after I took the video so I do not know. If we go back I'll check it out. The location is great! It's right mid Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) across from Caesars and Ballys, next to Flamingo. There are a lot of videos in this playlist.
