Preceding the actual implosion was a firework show of epic proportions with a countdown lighting up the nighttime sky over the Strip. The Riviera's doors officially closed last May after 60 years of business. The other remaining tower is scheduled to be imploded sometime in August this year. Good bye to one of the greatest and most iconic Las Vegas hotels! Replacing the Riviera will be yet another convention center.
