The Flamingo resort is centrally located on the fabulous Las Vegas strip. It is the oldest resort still operating on the strip and the first luxury resort on the strip. It has an interesting past with ties to mobster Bugsy Siegal. The Flamingo resort is not the most luxurious casino resort in Las Vegas. In fact it's only rated a 3 star resort but it is still appealing due to it's on site amenities and it's arguably low room rates compared to other venues. Rooms can be found for as little as $50 a night plus resort fees and taxes. We found the room a bit worn and bare. There is a mini fridge included, shampoo, conditioner and body soap, a wet bar kit, a flat screen TV, safe and an iron. The resort itself offers the Casino, 3 restaurants, the Go Pool, Flamingo Showroom, flamingo habitat, wedding chapel, coffee shops, self checkin, a stop on the monorail and direct access to the Lync Promenade. They are ONE of the only pet welcoming resorts on the strip... AT LEAST WHEN WE WERE SEARCHING in our price range we found them to be the only fit. The most popular aspect of the resort is the GoPool. This is a 21 and over day club pool at the resort. You don't have to be a guest to visit the pool. You must have your ID. Drinks run from $15 to $25. There are free poolside chairs that are first come first serve. There are towels available but we brought our own. We considered using some of the winnings we made for a super luxury day reserving a cabana but after seeing how crammed together they were and kinda dingy they were we were glad we passed. We still had a lot of fun. We thought they were one of the only pet welcoming resorts but thanks to viewers comments we know there's better options now. The resort allows dogs for a daily fee of $50 per dog per night. There are no pet exits so the pups have to walk through the promenade and we had to use the elevator to get to the potty station. The potty station is astro turf, tiny and dirty. We would not recommend bringing the dogs it's not worth the astronomical fees they hit you with. Maybe check out some of the other resorts in the commentsThey also are not allowed out of the crate when you are away from the room no matter how well behaved they are. We noted in our reservation that we were bringing the dogs, upon check in the staff didn't pay any attention to that and we were not given a pet friendly room. There are no pet exits so we had to use the elevator and walk the pups through the promenade to get to the potty station. The potty station is really small, very stinky and not made of natural material. Overall the pet experience was not great and we don't recommend it to other travelers. There you have it! I had the chance to stay at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and wanted to share my thoughts on the experience. Overall I loved the hotel and I plan on staying there again whenever I go back. It surely had it's share of issues but overall I would say that it's a great hotel on the Las Vegas strip and more affordable than some of the others in the area.
