There was one guy, I’m not gonna say his name, but he always sat with me at every table. He was allowed to spend my money. He could place bets for me, take chips off the table, even put them in his pocket — and all the casinos agreed to let me do that. What I’d do was meet him beforehand to discuss the limits — the stop loss and the stop win — so he’d know my numbers. While I was focused on the game, he’d be counting my chips. Because every hand I played, I felt like I had to recount the chips and do all this mental math. It was a distraction that added another layer of math that wasn’t really relevant. What I was really trying to do was win. But all of that just pulled me further away from what I was trying to do.
