La edil ha señalado que “es un gesto muy importante, que se lleva realizando desde hace muchos años y que permite que el montante íntegro se destine a ayudas directas para las familias más desfavorecidas del municipio” y ha subrayado que “estamos muy agradecidos al tejido empresarial del municipio, porque siempre ha demostrado que es muy solidario y que está muy comprometido con los proyectos que se desarrollan en este ámbito”. Veiga, por su parte, ha explicado que “este año es muy especial porque no habíamos recaudado esta cantidad desde el año 2011 y estamos muy satisfechos por un doble motivo, porque contribuye a mejorar la situación de los colectivos más vulnerables y porque es un síntoma claro de que la ciudad está recuperándose como destino turístico después de la pandemia”. Ha recordado que las fichas huérfanas “son aquellas que los jugadores pierden y se quedan en la sala abandonadas. Nosotros las recogemos, las cambiamos a su valor económico real y entregamos el cheque al Ayuntamiento con fines sociales”.
