Dynamite Pop Blue Blast Slot Machine at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino Part 5 of 20

The Casino bar in downtown La Crosse at 304 Pearl St. The Casino has been a tavern since at least 1878, when the building was built by John Walter. Likely a speakeasy during Prohibition, the space fronted a soda parlor and barber-supply business. The drinking establishment was given the name The Casino Tavern in 1934 by owner Frederick “Fritz” Kircheis. In 1938, Kircheis remodeled the interior of his bar in the Art Modern style. Local artisan Anton “Tony” Lee helped design and furnish the interior with bar fixtures, upholstery, a custom-built bar and cocktail lounge designs. Kircheis sold the business to Don Padesky, who remembered visiting the place when he was on leave from Camp McCoy during World War II. The bar’s motto is “Good Merchandise, Lousy Service.” Thumbnail Photo from the 1940's
