American Films es un curso de análisis y discusión cinematográfica a cargo de Sebastián Cardemil Muchnik. El taller se dicta en forma presencial (Sede Belgrano, 3 de Febrero 821, CABA) y en español. 90 minutos de duración. No se requiere conocimientos previos, aunque se sugiere una filmografía de referencia. Martin Scorsese es uno de los directores fundamentales y más influyentes del cine contemporáneo. Basta con revisar su extensa filmografía para descubrir un puñado de obras maestras que ya forman parte de lo mejor que se ha filmado en los últimos sesenta años: Taxi Driver, Toro salvaje, Goodfellas, Casino y El lobo de Wall Street, entre tantas otras, son películas que han influido a generaciones de cineastas de todo el mundo, y que se han convertido en verdaderos clásicos de la historia del cine. Siempre fiel a sí mismo, Scorsese aborda a lo largo de su obra géneros y temáticas disímiles pero siempre manteniendo intacta su pasión, sus rasgos autorales, su imponente estilo y su febril e inconfundible pulso narrativo. En este curso vamos a adentrarnos en su filmografía, en sus obsesiones, en su personal universo, y en su apasionado e inclaudicable amor por el cine. Cineasta, escribe novelas, y también es profesor de cine y literatura. Graduado en la ENERC (Escuela Nacional de Experimentación y Realización Cinematográficas, en Buenos Aires, Argentina) en la especialidad de realizador cinematográfico, es además “Licenciado en enseñanza de artes audiovisuales” en la UNSAM (Universidad de San Martín). Cursó estudios de filosofía y letras en la UBA (Universidad de Buenos Aires), y completó sus estudios cinematográficos en la FEMIS (Paris, Francia). Fue asistente de dirección de Leonardo Favio en “Gatica el mono”, y de Hugo Santiago en “La fábula de los continentes”. Ha ejercido la labor docente en numerosas escuelas y universidades de España y Argentina, ha escrito y dirigido más de treinta cortos y mediometrajes de ficción, realizado series y documentales para Discovery Channel, y es autor de cinco novelas y de un sinnúmero de guiones y cuentos.
