The Andrews government is facing criticism over its decision to launch a Royal Commission into Melbourne’s Crown Casino – with one Opposition member arguing the government was shamed into holding the inquiry. The Victorian government on Monday called for a Royal Commission after a New South Wales inquiry into Crown’s flagship Sydney casino found evidence of money laundering and links to organised crime. Opposition gaming spokeswoman Steph Ryan said the state government was shamed into the decision which Premier Daniel Andrews – who was not present when the announcement was made – did not want.
