If You've Got Trouble was recorded on the evening of February 18, 1965 for The Beatles' upcoming film "Help!" and featured Ringo on lead vocals. This was the groups fourth day of recording songs for the movie. The evening session began at around 6 pm and also saw the completion of Tell Me What You See. You've Got to Hide Your Love Away was also completed earlier in the day. There isn't much info on the actual recording process of this song. Either way, the song ended up being scrapped due to the group not liking the way it was turning out. It was instead scrapped for Act Naturally. According to George Martin's notes, the basic rhythm track was recorded live and consisted of McCartney on bass, Harrison on guitar and Starr on the kit/vocals. After this was done, they added overdubs. These consisted of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison all playing guitars aswell as Starr's double tracked vocals. THE GUITAR PARTS: Harrison played his 1963 Gretsch Tennessean. There isn't much to take note of other than its double tracked. George just plays the same musical phrase in the keys of E, A and B for the majority of the song. During the bridges he plays power chords. - At 1:19 he just drops out for some reason and then hits the open d a couple of times?? Probably a mistake Harrison also played his 1961 Fender Stratocaster on the solo. Definitely a unique tone; very dead sounding lol McCartney played his 1961 Epiphone Casino. As demonstrated here, he plays very staccato dominant 7th chords. Its kinda interesting how his E7 hits are louder than the A7 or B7 hits; no clue why. He also drops out for the bridges and solo section. Lennon most likely played his 1961 Fender Stratocaster aswell. He plays what are essentially power chords but he leaves the b and e strings open, much like Day Tripper (EX: X-7-9-9-0-0). For the A and B7 in the verses, he plays a regular A chord and on the B7 he plays it normally aswell but he leaves the high e string open (X-2-1-2-0-0). Pay attention to that last figure he plays at 2:42; the timing on it is a little weird. Thats about it!
