Of the 10 different apps for 14 different cameras I've dealt with every aspect except purchase, if it were up to me in my own space some day, I would buy 10 of Tapo cameras to use with their app. Like all low cost home security devices, Tapo app doesnt recognize other brand devices. That said, TP-Link Tapo app is the easiest to set up, install and personalize, and the choice of using their cloud storage or not is a simple, easy to find option. The camera and app work as expected. I recommend.

The app continues to crash, even with all my systems and their cameras having a dedicated IP address. I complained once about it, and was told my network was the issue! If my mesh network was an issue, the everything attached to it would flake out. sorry, not buying it. 3/30/26 Update. A recent app update has made things even worse. The app still flakes out, yet the cameras and other vendors equipment remain stable.

Great app. Lots of options laid out in a nice way. Audio issues seem to be 90% better. I'm not sure if they were app related or firmware related. Anyways, everything seems to be laid out in the most thoughtful way. Super easy to set up detection areas. Notifications from sound and motion events are instant. I use a MicroSD card instead of a cloud subscription. The audio stuttering is the only issue I have, but again, that's almost entirely fixed.
